SEOUL, Nov 12 (Reuters) – Normal Motors Co (GM.N) will start 10 electrical automobiles (EVs) in South Korea by 2025, but has no designs but to manufacture EVs in the region, Steven Kiefer, the head of GM’s international operations said on Friday.
The No.1 U.S. automaker, which warned past 12 months that persistent industrial motion was preventing even further expense in South Korea, builds EVs in the United States and China. It also has programs to create them in Mexico and Canada.
Kiefer’s visit right after a Korean labour union delegation went to Detroit in June experienced led to speculation in nearby media that he could announce new EV output options.
“We are not announcing any ideas but to make electrical motor vehicles in the region, so remain tuned for that,” Kiefer advised a media briefing.
GM’s South Korea unit builds about 600,000 vehicles a year, delivery quite a few to the United States which includes the well-liked Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV, and employs about 12,000 people. It described an operating decline of 309 billion won ($262 million) previous 12 months.
