In a large strengthen to government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, Taiwanese model Acer has roped in homegrown agreement manufacturer Dixon Technologies to manufacture laptops in the state.
Dixon will manufacture up to 5 lakh laptops per year for Acer at its Noida manufacturing unit.
Dixon Systems is a homegrown agreement manufacturer that tends to make smartphones, TVs, washing machines, gentle bulbs and CCTV cameras. Its critical clients are Motorola, Philips, Syska, Samsung, Panasonic.
The Taiwanese Computer big, which currenlty manufactures desktops, All-in-One PCs and tablets in its Puducherry facility, will supply Dixon with the know-how and procedures for manufacturing high-tech laptops, stories Livemint.
“Acer will manufacture several laptops in value to mainstream segments, together with the training segment, with Acer world wide producing techniques and steering,” Harish Kohli, President and controlling director, Acer India was quoted as stating in a statement.
Acer reported the new production unit will develop new work prospects for the country’s youth and assist in the development of ancillary electronic industries with the introduction of world wide producing specifications in India.
